Using graphic design as a cornerstone of visual identity
In 1925 the Underground Group published a series of posters designed by illustrator Kathleen Stenning to promote travel on the London Underground. These posters were part of a broader campaign to encourage Londoners to use the Tube for various purposes beyond just commuting.
The London Underground had a long tradition of commissioning memorable and visually striking advertising from leading artists and designers. They not only promoted the practical benefits of using the Tube, but also contributed to establishing the Underground's strong visual identity and reputation for excellent graphic design.
