"The role stories play in redesigning our systems is critical, and we all play a role in their telling."

Stories for Life is a project inspired by the question: How do we tell the story of a new economy?

In exploring the root causes of our crises, this team found "humility and clarity in ancient wisdom." They offer this website as a gift, a tool, and a reference—a way to discuss the interconnected crises caused by an economic system that fails to prioritize people and the planet. The site also illustrates how a new economic paradigm can help us navigate the challenges we face.

Organized into chapters, the website challenges narratives of separation—from nature and from each other—while promoting new stories of interconnection. While it may not provide entirely new insights into how to create these narratives, taken as a whole, the project does a strong job of articulating why we need to do so.

"Stories weave narratives that shape the way we think, feel and act. Misguided stories about our relationship to the world have helped to weave and maintain a harmful narrative of separation in our culture."This narrative means we choose unfit policies, which reinforce our stories and this harmful narrative, validating the economic designs that are destroying the conditions that create and sustain life. A healthier narrative that has been carried by cultures around the world for thousands of years, and is now being recognized by the latest scientific breakthroughs.'This narrative is grounded in the recognition that we are all entangled, integrated, dependent on each other and the more-than-human world around us. That human health and planetary health are intimately related. That we are a part of nature, so for us to thrive, nature must thrive."
