In 2016, Open Culture noted that a 66-year-old illustration of Superman promoting values of diversity, equity and inclusion was circulating online. They suggested, "Perhaps it’s time for an update, reflecting a more diverse America." Indeed. The Superman, a refugee from Krypton, naturally champions tolerance toward immigrants and minorities. This message, distributed by the Institute for American Democracy (a branch of the Anti-Defamation League), encouraged students to stand up for inclusivity.
The ADL is still active today. The organization provides resources to combat anti-Semitism, racism, and bigotry.
